Shanghai to Hong Kong

Beginnings.

Shanghai is monolithic concrete, sweeping road, and vibrant light. Shanghai is vast and magnificent.

When we arrived at Shanghai’s Intertextile, one of the largest apparel fabric fairs in the world, we were immediately struck by its scale. Thousands of merchants, tens of thousands of visitors, and three of us. Thankfully, we had with us our colleague and friend, Betty, who helped us to explain our story and vision to fabric agents and garment manufacturers from across the world.

There is no place that contrasts Shanghai’s expansiveness better than Hong Kong. Stretching freeways and narrow laneways, layering over, under and across each other. We found ourselves here, in this maze of endless, bustling energy. In this eclectic hybrid of old and young, East and West. Hong Kong immersed us in its flashing lights and its food and flavour, but when we tired, with the turn of a corner, it repaid us with fleeting moments of tranquility.
